Indiana State Museum

The Indiana State Museum, located in White River State Park, brings the best of the museum world to Indiana. Spanning three floors of permanent and changing galleries, the museum tells the story of the Hoosier state, and features a year-round calendar of exhibits, events and educational programs for all ages. In addition to exhibits, the museum houses an IMAX movie theater, the Indiana Store, The Farmers Market Café, and the L.S. Ayres Tea Room, open to the public during the holiday season and available for private dining throughout the year.

Soldiers & Sailors Monument/Monument Circle

The Soldiers and Sailors Monument is the physical and spiritual heart of Indianapolis. The circle was originally intended to house the governor's mansion, but no governor wanted to live in such a public location. Instead, it was decided after the civil war to erect a monument to those who fought. An international competition resulted in the selection of German architect Bruno Schmitz in 1887. The monument was completed in 1901 and measures 284 feet tall.

Indiana War Memorial

Dominating the five-block picturesque setting of War Memorial Plaza in downtown Indianapolis, the Indiana War Memorial sits 210 feet above street level. This mausoleum-style limestone and marble memorial pays homage to Hoosiers killed during war and also houses a 30,000 square foot museum that portrays American military history from the Revolutionary War to present day.

Action & Atomic Duckpin Bowling at Fountain Square Theater Building

Originally opened in 1928 as Fountain Square Recreation, a bowling alley and billiard hall on the fourth floor of the Fountain Square Theatre Building, the business closed and was gutted in 1957, remaining vacant until 1993. Restored as an original 1930’s era duckpin bowling alley, Action Duckpin Bowl has eight lanes of duckpin bowling, a vintage billiard table and seating for 110 guests in the cafe area. Atomic Bowl Duckpin is housed in the basement level of the building and is furnished with authentic 1950’s and 60’s equipment. It has cafe seating for up to 98 guests.

In honor of his wit and wisdom, the Kurt Vonnegut Museum and Library champions the literary, artistic and cultural contributions of the late writer, artist, and Indianapolis native Kurt Vonnegut.

Indianapolis Zoo

Located in White River State Park along the scenic riverbanks, the Indianapolis Zoo offers 64 acres of both indoor and outdoor animal attractions as well as three additional acres of outdoor gardens. The Canal Walk and Boat Rentals

The Canal Walk is part of the Indiana Central Canal, which was dug in the early 1800s, in an effort to facilitate interstate commerce. Today, the refurbished Canal Walk (stretching north through White River State Park to 11th Street) serves the downtown community as a waterside promenade for walkers, runners, bikers and sightseers (while the canal itself includes a steady stream of pedal boats, which may be rented west of the Indiana State Museum).
